‘Lady Jayne’ portrait purchased by National Portrait Gallery

In an article in ‘The Guardian’ at the weekend, Charlotte Higgins wrote that the ‘Lady Jayne’ portrait discovered in Streatham in January 2006, has been bought by the National Portrait Gallery.

I am really looking forward to seeing this on display. According to the article, the portrait was painted 50 years after Jane’s execution and it is thought that it is probably a copy of an earlier original.

Having been interested in Lady Jane for over 10 years, I can’t wait to see, what could be the closest ‘likeness’ we will ever get.
