Review of 2006In January it was reported in the press that a possible portrait of Lady Jane Grey had been discovered at a house in Streatham. The portrait was inscribed 'Lady Jayne.' It was announced in November that it had been bought by the National Portrait Gallery. Alison Weir's fictional account of the life of Lady Jane Grey, 'Innocent Traitor', was published in the UK in April. Books that featured Jane (to varying degrees) included; 'Mary Tudor: The Tragical History of the First Queen of England' by David Loades, 'Sovereign Ladies: The Six Reigning Queens of England' by Maureen Waller and 'Bess of Hardwick: First Lady of Chatsworth' by Mary S Lovell. |
