Events of January and February 1554 – 6th February


On the 6th February, Wyatt and his army left Southwark and made their way to Kingston to cross the Thames there. Where according to the diarist Henry Machyn, ‘and ther the bridge was pluckyd up, and he causyd on of ys men to swym over for to feytche a bott, and so whent at nyght toward Kensyngtun, and so forward.’ (1)

More worrying for Jane would be the news that her father and one of her uncles had been captured by the Earl of Huntingdon. (2)
