Viyki Turnbull
Friday 30 April
6.45–8.15pm
Sainsbury Wing Conference Room 1
How was an academic history painting created? Artist Viyki Turnbull will trace the many stages of Paul Delaroche’s showstopper The Execution of Lady Jane Grey (1833), from the first sketch and research drawings to the finished painting.
The talk will explore the Paris Salon, the role of the blockbuster painting and its gradual decline during the second half of the 19th century.
